Using The Law Of Attraction Successfully
You probably know what the Law of Attraction is by now. The basic idea is that if you think positive thoughts you will get positive results, whereas if you think negative thoughts you will get negative results. You may know that it is not necessary to monitor all your thoughts; that it is much easier to just notice how you feel. If you feel good, it means you are thinking positive thoughts (ones that will attract the things you want). If you feel bad, you are thinking negative thoughts (ones that will repel the things you want). It sounds simple enough. Why is it, then, that you can not get it to work?
The first problem with this simple explanation is that it does not take into account your current circumstances and current mental state. You must get rid of your negative, self-limiting beliefs before you can attract anything you want. If I believe that I am not smart enough to get a high-paying job, then I will not get one no matter how much I think positive thoughts about how wonderful it would be to have it or visualize what it would be like to have it. It is only when I can convince my subconscious mind that I am indeed smart enough, that the high-paying job will come into my life.
Of course, the first thing that has to happen is that you have to identify what your self-limiting beliefs are. This can be extremely difficult, as many or most of them were taught you by parents or someone else important to you so early in your life that they have become part of your very self concept. It takes a concentrated effort to tease them out, as well as a concentrated and courageous effort to persuade yourself that they are not true.
It also can be very difficult to ignore your present circumstances and pretend you are living the life you want. If I am in physical pain, or have just received a frightening diagnosis, for example, it can be very difficult to imagine myself perfectly healthy and free of pain. If I rent a cheap apartment and can't afford to own a car, it can be very difficult to imagine myself living in my own mansion and driving an expensive new car. It takes real concentration and focus. It helps if you realize that in every challenge or problem that is happening to you right now there is an equally positive opportunity; and all you have to do is to find it. It helps to realize that whatever is going on right now is part of a larger plan directed toward your own personal growth and development. Find the lesson and the gift in your present challenges so that you can rise above them.
There is another problem with this explanation too. It does not address the need to take action. You can sit and feel happy and visualize positive things forever but nothing will happen unless you take action to get those things.
Most people believe that nothing will get done unless they take action to get it done. They run around in frantic activity, worrying about how to get things done, often without really thinking about exactly what it is they want to accomplish. This action comes from feelings of worry, fear, or doubt. It involves struggle. People try to force their desire to happen by their actions. They are trying to use their actions to create what they want.
It is much more effective to allow yourself to focus on what you want until you feel positive energy begin to move within you. Wait until your desire seems real enough in your mind that your next action step seems like the most logical one, and then the action will be effortless. Wait until you really feel like jumping into action. When you are focused on what you want and clear about your ability to get it, you will know when it is time to take action.
The secrets behind "the Secret" are that you need to have no limiting beliefs that hold you back from getting what you want, and that you need to take inspired action in order to get what you want. You need to have faith that you can succeed, and you need to be clear enough about what you want to have that you are excited enough about it to really feel like jumping into action. If you can clear away your limiting beliefs and take inspired action, there is no limit to what you can accomplish.
