Jude Law Hamlet Storms Broadway

Arguably the most handsome actor yet to carry out the role, Jude Law Hamlet has achieved great reviews and a large fan following. Directed by Michael Grandage and produced by Arielle Tepper Madover, this Donmar Warehouse production will entertain Broadway audience for twelve weeks beginning from September 12.

Shakespeare's tragedy about Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark and his tryst with destiny to avenge the death of his father, with grave consequences for him personally as well as for his country, has been subjected to many interpretations in the hands of various directors for more than 200 years.

Jude Law Hamlet has concluded successful sold out runs at Wyndham's Theatre, London and Kronberg Castle, Elsinore. Jude law is well known for his roles in films such as The Talented Mr. Ripley, Road to Perdition, Wilde, Sherlock Holmes, Sleuth, My Blueberry nights, The Holiday, The Aviator and Cold Mountain. He last appeared on the London stage in Dr. Faustus and 'Tis a pity she's a whore (both young Vic's productions). New York marks Jude Law's first entry into Broadway since he was nominated for Tony Awards for Indiscretions (1995).

Due to the immense popularity of the show (remember it was sold out at both London and Elsinore before coming to Broadway), there is a huge demand for the tickets. At the same time, Jude Law Hamlet has earned good reviews from critics, including Charles McNulty of Los Angeles Times, who says "he (Jude Law) brings an admirable balance to this most challenging of Shakespearean roles. The handsomeness of his interpretation is more than skin deep. He succeeds at catching what the Romantic-era critic William Hazlitt described as the protagonist's 'high enthusiasm and quick sensibility'".

Elisabeth Vincentelli of The New York Post says Law "projects a brooding intensity that befits a character obsessed with vengeance. And in the daunting soliloquies he combines seemingly contradictory qualities of self-doubt and ardor". She adds "It's to the credit of Grandage and his team that they realized a simple fact: You don't reinvent a wheel that's been rolling along nicely for centuries – you just make sure it spins smoothly".

Tickets for Jude Law Hamlet are available online and are priced in the range of $25 - $116.50.
